Support
The primary purpose of The North Jersey Chorus is to provide music scholarships to deserving young men and women who are graduating from high school and pursuing their education in a music-related area of study. Since its inception in 1948, the chorus has been committed to giving scholarships. More recently, the Samuel T. Hutcheson Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by the friends and family of Mr. Hutcheson, who was a member of the tenor section of the chorus for over 15 years. The fund continues to be supported by the chorus and with contributions received in his memory.
From contributions received in memory of long-time members Henry "Hank" Van Ry and Robin Boogertman, the chorus purchased and dedicated a new stage lighting system for the auditorium at Hawthorne High School.
Past donations the chorus has made to Hawthorne High School include the purchase of new seats when the auditorium was refurbished a few years ago, as well as stage risers for use by the chorus and students of the high school.
Ongoing support for the music scholarship fund is received through the generosity of chorus members, friends of the chorus, and the community at large.
